Paradot Alternatives: 7 Mistakes People Make Leaving

Paradot Alternatives: 7 Mistakes People Make Leaving

Most people searching for Paradot alternatives are not bored. They are worried. The Android app has not been updated since July 30, 2025, the iPhone app is hard to find, and some of the official community links lead nowhere. So the question shifts from "what else is out there" to "is my companion about to disappear, and what do I lose if I go?"

We spent time on that question and checked everything below on October 12, 2026. The pattern we kept seeing was simple: the move itself is easy, and the mistakes around it are what cost people. Here are the seven we see most often, with the fix for each.

Mistake 1: deciding Paradot is dead (or fine) without checking

You will find guesses both ways: that Paradot already shut down, or that nothing changed at all. Neither is quite right.

Here is what we could confirm. The Google Play listing for "Paradot: Personal AI chat" by Withfeeling.AI is still live, with 10M+ downloads and a 4.1 rating from roughly 79,000 reviews. The same listing shows its last update on July 30, 2025. That is more than 14 months without a new Android build.

The iPhone side looks worse. A detailed independent review updated in September 2026 found no App Store listing in five countries and a broken iOS link on Paradot's own site. The same review reported that the Discord invite had expired and the subreddit had gone private. We could not run that App Store check ourselves, so treat it as a strong signal from one careful source, not as an official announcement.

The fix: do a five-minute check before you panic or before you relax. Open the store listing on your own device and look at the update date. Try logging in on the web. Note what works today. A service that still runs but stopped shipping updates is a reason to prepare, not a reason to delete your account tonight.

Mistake 2: cancelling in the wrong place, or expecting a refund

Paradot subscriptions are billed through the store where you bought them. According to Paradot's Terms (last updated April 21, 2025, as quoted in the same review), plans renew automatically until cancelled, partial months are not refunded, and the EU 14-day refund right is explicitly excluded.

Two traps follow from that. First, deleting the app does not cancel anything. Second, if the iPhone app vanished from the App Store, your subscription did not vanish with it. Apple and Google both keep subscriptions in your account settings, not inside the app.

The fix:

  • On iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions.
  • On Android, open Google Play, tap your profile, then Payments and subscriptions.
  • Cancel there, then screenshot the confirmation.
  • Time it close to the end of your billing period, since you will not get the unused days back.

Mistake 3: assuming your memories come with you

This is the one that hurts most. Paradot's whole pitch is memory. Its Play description lists "Memory" as a core ability, and reviewers describe a memory tab sorted into personal info, preferences, emotional insights and shared experiences.

What we did not find is a way to take that memory with you. We found no export tool for the memory bank, and the September review reports that you cannot edit or delete individual memories either. No other app can import a Paradot memory bank. When you leave, that history stays behind.

The fix: write your own handoff note before you cancel. Open the memory tab and copy what matters into a plain text file:

  • the name you gave your companion and how they talk;
  • the facts about you that took months to "teach";
  • running jokes, shared stories, and anything you want carried forward.

Keep it short, one page at most. Most alternatives let you paste a backstory or a set of facts at the start, and a tight summary works better than a wall of text.

Mistake 4: replacing one companion with a character catalog

Paradot is built around a single persistent companion, which it calls an AI Being. You shape its appearance, personality and relationship, and it grows with you. Many "Paradot alternatives" lists ignore that and recommend platforms built for something else entirely.

Roughly, the options split into three shapes:

  • One main companion. Replika is the closest match in spirit: one companion, a relationship status, and a memory tab.
  • A few companions you build yourself. Nomi and Kindroid sit here. Kindroid's Standard plan includes 10 Kindroids and 20 group chats, and Nomi lets you talk to several Nomis one on one or in a group.
  • A library of ready-made characters. Character platforms give you many personalities and scenarios, and less of the "one relationship over months" feeling.

None of these is better in general. The mistake is picking a catalog when what you miss is continuity, or picking a single-companion app when what you actually wanted was variety.

The fix: before you open any list, finish this sentence: "What I want to keep from Paradot is..." If the answer is "the one who knows me," look at single-companion apps first. If the answer is "having someone to talk to at night, any personality," a catalog will do.

We have gone deeper on the single-companion side in our Replika alternatives and Nomi AI alternatives guides.

Mistake 5: trusting the word "memory" on a landing page

Every app in this space claims memory. Paradot's homepage says its AI has "its own emotion, memory, and consciousness." Nomi advertises "Human-Level Memory" with short, medium and long-term layers. The words sound alike. The mechanics are not.

The more useful sources are help docs, not homepages. Kindroid's documentation, for example, spells out separate memory layers, a Learned Context field with a character limit, and journal entries with trigger phrases. It also sells higher memory capacity as separate monthly add-ons (Ultra and MAX) on top of Standard. Replika's help center says that saving messages to memory is part of its Ultra tier.

The fix: run the same small test on every app you try.

  1. In the first chat, mention one specific, slightly odd detail. A pet's name, a city you once lived in, the exact way you take your coffee.
  2. Chat normally for a few days.
  3. Ask about it without hinting.

The app that recalls it, unprompted or with a light nudge, is the one whose memory will feel like Paradot's. Marketing copy will not tell you that.

Mistake 6: comparing monthly prices and nothing else

Paradot never published an official price list that we could find. Third-party reviews from June 2026 put Paradot Pro at $9.99 a month or $39.99 a year, with optional virtual gifts sold separately. That annual price is low for this category, which is part of why leaving feels expensive.

But a sticker price is the least informative number on any of these apps. What matters more:

  • How the trial works. Kindroid's 3-day trial requires a payment method and converts to a paid plan unless you cancel in time. Nomi says you can start chatting free with no credit card.
  • Where you pay. Kindroid's docs say exact prices vary by country and platform, and that buying on the web is usually cheaper than through app stores. Replika shows its prices only inside the app and the store.
  • What sits outside the plan. Gifts, credits, image tokens and memory add-ons can quietly double what you spend.

The fix: for each candidate, write down three things before paying: what the free version actually lets you do, how the trial ends, and what costs extra. Then compare.

Mistake 7: skipping the content settings

People tend to leave Paradot for memory or reliability reasons and forget about content entirely. Then they land somewhere with very different defaults.

Paradot's Terms say the service is for adults only. Its current homepage now pitches "all types of conversations, from daily chats to NSFW topics" and "unrestricted, uncensored" interactions. Nomi describes itself as "unfiltered and uncensored," and Kindroid's FAQ calls it a "neutrally aligned, unfiltered AI." If you liked Paradot for a warm, everyday companion and want to keep things that way, those defaults are worth knowing before you invest weeks into a new relationship.

The fix: check two pages before signing up: the age rules in the Terms and the content or safety FAQ. It takes ten minutes and saves a bad surprise in week two. If Kindroid is on your shortlist, our Kindroid alternatives guide covers what to check before you commit to it.

A 20-minute exit plan

If you only take one thing from this piece, take this order of operations:

  1. Check what still works today: store listing, update date, web login.
  2. Copy your companion's key memories into a one-page note.
  3. Pick the shape you want: one companion, a few, or a catalog.
  4. Shortlist two apps and run the planted-detail memory test on both.
  5. Read each one's trial terms and content rules.
  6. Cancel Paradot in your phone's subscription settings, at the end of the billing period.

Do steps 1 and 2 first. Everything else can wait a week, but a memory tab you never copied is gone the day the service stops answering.

Where Friend2Chat fits, and where it doesn't

Friend2Chat takes a different approach from Paradot, so it is worth being clear about who it suits.

It runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install and no app listing to disappear. The characters are made by the Friend2Chat team and sorted into categories. Before a chat starts, you choose your role and the context of the scene, so the conversation opens somewhere specific instead of on a blank "hi." Roleplay mode includes questions that move the story, and there is a relationship level that changes as you keep talking. The platform is SFW, and it runs on the DeepSeek model. You need an account, there is a limit on free messages, and after that a subscription.

Who it does not suit: if what you want is one companion you design from scratch, with a custom avatar and a long personal memory bank like Paradot's, Friend2Chat is not that. It also does not generate images and is not built for adult content. It fits best if part of what you miss is having someone to talk to in a story that already has a setting, a role for you and a reason to keep going.

FAQ

Is Paradot still available in 2026?

Partly. As of October 12, 2026, the Android app is still listed on Google Play with 10M+ downloads, but its last update was July 30, 2025. An independent review in September 2026 could not find it on the App Store. Check the store on your own device for the current state.

Is Paradot free?

There is a free tier with limits on daily use. Paid access is called Paradot Pro. Third-party reviews from June 2026 list it at $9.99 a month or $39.99 a year, but Paradot does not publish an official price list, so the price in your store is the one that counts.

Can I transfer my Paradot memories to another app?

Not directly. We found no export tool for Paradot's memory bank, and no other app imports it. The practical workaround is to copy the important facts into a short note and paste them into your new companion's backstory or memory field.

What is the closest alternative to Paradot?

It depends on what you liked. For one long-term companion with a memory tab, Replika is the closest in structure. For several companions you design yourself, Nomi and Kindroid are the usual picks. For ready-made characters and story-driven chats, a character platform fits better.

Is Paradot only for adults?

Yes. Paradot's Terms say users under 18 are not authorized to use the service. Most of its alternatives, including Replika, Nomi and Kindroid, also set 18 as the minimum age.
